The workshop will engage the participants in collaborative live coding on estuary—a platform for collaboration and learning through live coding, which enables you to create sound, music, and visuals in a web browser. Estuary is a zero-install platform that accommodates synced, collaborative live coding on several languages—most commonly miniTidal and Punctual. Participant will be introduced to the estuary platform, basic principles of miniTidal and punctual, and collaborative improvisation. Funded by Canada´s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Estuary is a product of a collaborative project titled "Platforms and practices for networked, language-neutral live coding", which is based primarily at McMaster University, and involves Dr. David Ogborn (primary investigator), Dr. Eldad Tsabary (co-applicant), Dr. Shelly Knotts (collaborator), and a team of developers.
